Blog Beginnings

Hi! I'm Grace. Thanks for visiting my blog!

I started this blog back in 2008 to brag about my awesome athletic feats after getting cured (or so I thought) from a rare autoimmune illness Henoch Schonlein Purpura that had afflicted me for half my life. (See Tri-ing for me: Triathlon after Illness)

I thought wrong.

I relapsed, and it was my worst relapse ever. At my darkest point, I didn't feel like I would be able to live.

But I did.

It wasn't until 2011 that I revisited this blog and started blogging again. I wasn't 100% well yet, but was still pushing on. I had set myself a goal of doing a triathlon so that I would have something to work towards, to look forward to. I held on to that dream, through multiple relapses, believing that I would beat this illness that ravaged my body. I got better. I Love Triathlon :)

This blog is meaningful to me because it records my 'failures'/ relapses, everything I felt - anger, sadness, frustration, despair, hope... Always hope.

I hope you will find my blog meaningful too.

Follow me as I pursue new adventures!

My favorite finisher photo. Was in relapse then but took it slow. (Read more here)

  1. HI Grace, I also started a blog because of a health challenge. We have a common interest in plantar fasciitis and triathlons. Blogging helped me to find some great people. I'm still doing Ironman races, into my 70s, with an abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) stent graft. Keep up the great work. Don't relapse again (will keep my fingers crossed for you). My blog is at http://athletewithstent.com. Cheers, kevin aka FitOldDog
